From a size standpoint, Public Storage is the No. 1 self-storage operator in the U.S., and Extra Space Storage is No. 2. But how do they stack up against each other when it comes to customer loyalty?
Washington, DC-based startup NewBrandAnalytics, which offers business intelligence based on feedback from customers on social media, explores that loyalty matchup in a new infographic. The startup’s insights are based solely on comments that customers made about Public Storage and Extra Space on review sites and on social media networks.
“I don’t ask much from my storage facilities. I want the staff to be friendly, the facility to be clean and rent not to cost an arm and a leg. This is pretty much in line with what social customer feedback points to as well,” writer Sherrie Mersdorf said on the NewBrandAnalytics website.
Mersdorf noted that the race for customer loyalty and brand sentiment is close between Public Storage and Extra Space, so “it comes down to the little things brands can do to set themselves apart.”
“For example,” she wrote, “when I look at the 7% and 10% respectively who say they will not return, pricing and value becomes more important than when looking at all comments.”
